Topic of all Topics is always the JailBreak method that works. Well form me (still learning) I have come across a method that seems fast/safe/and found it work 9.5/10 times. Whats this method you ask well good thing you did! As always there is more then one way to skin a cat.
What is your flavor for JailBreak: 1.1.3 or 1.1.4
1.1.3 - : (WARNING - Not Following Some Steps May BRICK your iPod).
- Things You Will Need:
- iPodTouch (sorry couldn’t resist)
- Firmware 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3 files, direct links listed below from apple. (save these file to a folder on your drive)
once you have saved all the files lets get started.
- Restore to 1.1.1 & JailBreak
- Connect iPod to your computer, make sure it shows up in iTunes.
- Connect your iPod in DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade Mode) *this is step is important & a must*
- Press and hold-down both Power and Home buttons.
- Release the Power button when you see then iPod disconnects and disappears from iTunes. This may take about 10 seconds.
- Release the Home button when you see a popup from iTunes Regarding your iPod (or if you have heard your 3rd beep from then pc ) * this is a big step if you get this wrong you may have issues with the iPod later on.*
- Press and HOLD the SHIFT key and click on “Restore” button in iTunes. Then Select the 1.1.1 file that you downloaded.
- After restore be sure to set the iPod up in iTunes as a new iPod & Un-Check
- “Automatically sync songs to my iPod”
- “Open iTunes when this iPod is connected”
- UnLock the iPod & Set This Options on the iPod
- Settings, General, Auto-Lock & set it to never
- Settings, WiFi & make sure HTTP Proxy is Off.
8. Launch your iPodTouch’s Safari, and surf to http://jailbreakme.com
9. Scroll to the bottom of page and tap on the “Install AppSnapp” link. Your Safari will load the link. After a few oddsand ends your iPod will return to the Springboard. You should now see the icon on named “Installer”
1. If you have issues here or your iPod times out you may need to do this step a few times (depending on network connection)
10.Congratulations Your iPodTouch is now JailBroken to 1.1.1
3. JailBreak To 1.1.2
1. Tap the “installer” do any updates it may want you to do!
2. If updates were done press the home button to get you out ..
3. Tap the “Installer” and go to install, from there go to
1. “Sources” and install “Community Sources” package
2. “Tweaks(1.1.1) category and verify that “OktoPrep” is there
1. If not there then go to Sources (bottom tab) and add http://hackthatphone.com/1.xml to sources, then do a refresh
3. Install in Following Order.
1. System->BSD Subsystem
1. Exit installer & HardBoot iPod (hold in power - till unit shuts down)
2. Go back into “Installer” and install
3. Tweaks(1.1.1)->OktPrep
4. Go Back to iTunes, Then press and hold the SHIFT-KEY and click on the “Update” button (not the “Restore” as in previous step) and select the 1.1.2 file you downloaded earlier.

- After restore be sure to set the iPod up in iTunes as a new iPod & Un-Check
- “Automatically sync songs to my iPod”
- “Open iTunes when this iPod is connected”
- UnLock the iPod & Set This Options on the iPod
- Settings, General, Auto-Lock & set it to never
- After restore be sure to set the iPod up in iTunes as a new iPod & Un-Check
4. Dismiss any updates iTunes may also ask you to do!
6. Download Jailbreak.zip from Conceited Software
1. Extract software and brows to the folder that you extracted software to
2. It this point you want to shut down iTunes
3. Look in the 1.1.2-Jailbreak folder for “Windows.bat” and double click it.
1. Don’t Check-Mark “Install SSH” (I know you may want it but it isn’t time yet)
2. Click the “JailBreak” Button and watch…
4. Once the process begins it will be a few reboots of your iPod, so be patient and just leave it alone. ( till iPod shuts off and stays that way) about 3-5 minutes…
7. Once again Congratulations you are now a proud owner of a 1.1.2 Jailbroken iPod.
4. JailBreak To 1.1.3
1. At this time you should still “Installer” app on your springboard, if it is not there then something went wrong and I am afraid you will have start all over again.
2. Now - tap the “Installer” app, update any updates that may be required & exit “Iinstaller”.
3. Tap the “Installer” and go to sources and do a “Refresh”, some more updates may be needed to be done to the Installer, if so exit Installer again.
4. Tap the “Installer”(again) and go to Install->”System” category select and install the “BSD Subsystem” package (if you don’t see this package then go to the “Sources” category, and install the “Community Sources” package. After refreshing your sources, the “BSD Subsystem” package will show up)
5. Aftr installing “BSD Subsystem”, it is critical that you do a cold boot on your iPod (POWERDOWN-using power button by holding it in for a few seconds
6. Once powered back up Tap on Installer again, and in “System” Select OpenSS & Exit “Installer”
7. Tap on Installer again, and in “System” category and install the “Official 1.1.3 Upgrader” package
8. installing the Upgrader pakage, you will find a new icon named “Upgrade” in your Springboard. & Reboot your iPod.
9. At this point, you can SSH into your iPod touch and upload a copy of iPod1,1_1.13_4A93_Restore.ipsw to /private/var/root/Media. Doing so, the Upgrade.app will be able to complete its task quicker, in “… about 10 minutes …”, as it doesn’t have to download the 1.1.3 firmware file from Apple. 10. Disconnect your iPod touch from your computer. Do it!!!.
11. Tap on Upgrade to start upgrading. When you see this pop-up prompt, make sure you tap on YES.
12. JailBreak Complete to 1.1.3
After NOTE:
connecting your iPod to iTunes DO NOT RESTORE - BUT SET IT UP AS A NEW iPod
Using the 1.1.4 Method this would not be an issue.
